Bordala – Val di Gresta

XC cross country

The start is the car park in the locality of S. Barbara, which is 2 km form the town of Ronzo Chienis. You take the uphill asphalted road and you reach a crossroads. While climbing you see a bar on your left. Turn right at the crossroads: from this point you can admire Monte Stivo. At the end of this climb you see a church on your right and you take the dirt road that runs downhill.

You will quickly reach the Baita degli Alpini (Alpine shelter) and a fountain. At the end of the street turn left: the road is now partly asphalted. Then you will ride your MTB crossing cultivated fields and then a forest. You see on your left the faces of Monte Stivo. The climb is well-marked, on a dirt ground and has no big difficulties.

You reach a crossroads and then you go right, the road gets flat and then it runs once again downhill along the main street that leads from Lago di Cei (Lake Cei) uphill to Bordala Pass and then towards Loppio. If you turn right you can rest at the hotel Passo Bordala where you can have a break and enjoy the typical products of this area. Cross the road and follow the signs to Malga Somator, the road is asphalted and the surrounding landscape is made of cultivated fields. You reach the malga (hut) and you see a wonderful forest on your right. Stop in Malga Somator to taste some Trentino special dishes made with typical produce from Val di Gresta.

You go back on the same road until you reach another crossroads that leads you to grass lawns and then to a restaurant at the edge of the main street. From here the descent is on the asphalted street. At the end of the town of Ronzo turn right and follow the signs for Bolognano. The road runs uphill and is asphalted and is the last climb of the trail. At the end of it you will reach the car park, which is the start of this route.
